Maternity Photography
Congratulations! If you are on this page and are expecting. I want to personally say my warm congratulations to you and to your new future family!
Pregnancy is different for everybody, some have a wonderful pregnancy, others it may be a difficult journey. My first pregnancy was great, I wasn’t sick even a single day and my current one has been an emotional rollercoaster. In either case, pregnancy is such an extraordinary period of life in which your body transforms to make room for another life and is no denial that we are overwhelmed with emotions. So, I encourage all the expecting mothers to celebrate their pregnancy with timeless maternity photography and here are five reasons why:
1. You are going to miss your bump
Even if your pregnancy is hard is also simultaneously magical, you are growing a new life who is entirely dependent on you and you can feel and see every kick or move creating that special connection that only mothers can know.
Once it’s over, you’ll find yourself wandering down nostalgia lane and remembering all those baby kicks. So, it’s very important to capture these moments because you won’t be pregnant forever. Your pregnancy will fly by faster than you expected.
Maternity photos are a reminder of your magical pregnancy and those gorgeous pictures of yourself will always bring memories back and make you smile.
2. Time to bond with your partner
There is no doubt that hormones during the pregnancy and anticipated lifestyle changes can impact and create tensions on your relationship. But I guarantee you are not the only couple to experience these, it’s virtually part of the pregnancy process ;0).
Taking maternity photos with your partner is a great occasion to reinforce your connection and to celebrate the new life you have both created. It’s a wonderful opportunity to document your evolving from a couple into a family.
3. Displayed maternity photos are a great starting point for a conversation about pregnancy with your chatter toddler full of questions
It’s so true when people are telling you to enjoy your pregnancy and to appreciate every moment of your little human, but time flies by so quickly and without realising it you are now dealing with a toddler full of questions and opinions, because believe they have their own opinions already ;0)!
One morning my little girl was looking at my maternity picture hung (of when I was pregnant with her) on the wall and start asking questions: Mum is that you? Did you have a baby in your belly? Was that baby me? How did it come out? And so on…
So a displayed maternity picture in your home is a great way of starting a conversation with your little one about pregnancy and maybe a great way to prepare them to the arrival of a new little sister or brother.
4. A great way to involve and connect your first born with the new arrival
Often the parents are concerned about the impact that the arrival will have on their first born, he/she may feel excluded as will have to share the parent’s attention. Studies suggest it is best to have the older sibling involved as much as possible and to give them extra love and attention during and after the pregnancy to establish a positive relationship with their siblings from the beginning.
Having your older child in your maternity photoshoot is a beautiful way to create that bonding connection, it will be and enjoyable and fun experience to share with mum and dad as well as a great celebration for the whole family.
5. Finally it is your own special moment so own it and celebrate it with some maternity photos
Whether you decide to include in your maternity photoshoot your partner or your other kids, there is no doubt that this is your own special moment to own and celebrate. I know you may not feel at your best, perhaps a bit self-conscious as you may have put on few pounds or feel tired due to lack of sleep (as it impossible not to twist and turn in bed all night at this stage of your pregnancy).
Putting this aside, you are growing a human being and for this reason on its own you need to be celebrated with some beautiful images! I can promise that you will be amazed at just how stunning you look.
